Donovan Den Designs
Welcome
You have arrived at Donovan Den Designs. Pull up a chair and sit by the fire.
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Diane Cook Donovan and I am a software developer. I received my bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Vermont. My career began with a position at the Department of Defense as a typical computer programmer coding in FORTRAN. Later, after my children started school and because of an interest in architecture, I began working for an architect where I found myself maintaining a network of PC's and then teaching myself web design. I have continued to develop web pages for non-profits, as wells as for my own profit.
Because of my comfort with all different aspects of computers I have been fortunate to build skills in many components of both software and hardware and it has meant that I am able to learn new things quickly. When I found some part-time work where I was privileged to scan some valuable historic photos, it got my foot in the door and I was next hired to build a database. This forced me to sharpen my MS Access skills and then gave me a chance to learn PHP and MySQL to put the database on the web. I have used those skills many times over for different branches of that organization. In the Brattleboro school system, I enjoyed the opportunity to briefly try my hand at using my IT technical skills.
I have returned to my roots as a software developer for the State of Vermont Agency of Transportation where I have developed applications to aid state employees managing large construction projects, pulling data from many systems into a concise application. I’m hoping to get more into web mapping and ArcGIS in the future.
So, if you are in need of some software development, or if you are interested in hiring for a full-time position as part of a team, please contact me.
