Kitchen Renovation
Our house hadn't be updated in a couple of decades. The current kitchen is certainly workable, but without many of the modern conveniences. There are remnants of the 1940's kitchen at the other end of this long house. We have decided to renovate this old kitchen, keeping the newer kitchen intact while the house is under construction.
The new kitchen will have a sink under a bank of three double-hung windows. There will be the current standard kitchen island. But the chimney that runs through the space presented an interesting problem. We are building a second island (the chimney island) to wrap around the chimney which will serve as transition into the family room. The chimney island will provide seating and entertaining functionality.
